Understanding Simple Past with "Gestern"

Hello students! Today, we're learning the simple past with Gestern. This word means "yesterday" and always points to past events.

For past actions, we use Präteritum. Focus on sein (to be) and haben (to have):

Ich war (I was): Gestern war ich im Kino. (Yesterday, I was at the cinema.)
Ich hatte (I had): Gestern hatte ich viel Arbeit. (Yesterday, I had a lot of work.)

Since Gestern is present, the past tense is clear. These two verbs are vital for a quick start!
